Corn Oil Extraction Articles

Corn Oil Adds Significant Profitability to Ethanol

"Innovations in extraction technology have led to large increases in average corn oil yield over the past year. Corn oil yields have risen steadily as plants improve their technologies and processes for extraction. Average yields have increased more than 50 percent since the beginning of 2011 and now average well over half a pound per bushel. The leading top 25 percent of plants can expect even higher yields, averaging upwards of 0.8 pounds per bushel in the most recent quarter for which data is available, Q4 of 2012."

Corn Oil Industry Needs to Evolve

"Without dried distillers grains and corn oil extraction, most ethanol plants would be at the bottom of the lake after this year."

"With close to 80 percent of ethanol plants now using some form of corn oil extraction, . . . "

Making Customer-Driven Corn Oil Decisions

". . . about 23 percent of total plant revenues are now derived from distillers grains and corn oil. That number is remarkable given the fact that the industry average just four or five years ago was 16 percent. In fact, in 2011 it was still just 18 percent. Yes, distillers grains prices have risen, but corn oil sales have been the real difference-maker."

Not sure how to describe the emotion while reading that last article.  Yes the growth in corn oil extraction is remarkable over the last five years.  It is however, not a surprise.  I have been blogging the benefits of Corn Oil Extraction in general and GreenShift in particular in 1433 Blogs since February of 2008.  I was a GreenShift owner for some time before that.  Some resilient investors have been here longer.

In any case, after arguing with some in the industry over the past 5 years that COE was the future, it is nice to see that 70-80% of the industry is now participating.  Corn Oil Extraction NOW seems obvious and inevitable.  Believe me when I say that five years ago Corn Oil Extraction was neither obvious nor inevitable to 80% of those in the Ethanol Industry.

Since I am critiquing others foresightedness, allow me some self-reflection.  I have been obviously wrong about the ability of those who have used a multi-patented technology to avoid paying royalties for a multi-year period.  Hopefully that will change soon.

It will SkunK, and the hefty penalties will be just. GERS has proven itself the saving grace for this industry despite the nay sayers claiming the technology wasn't patentable, didn't work, has been around since time began, was obvious due to prevost. and required 95% of the oil to be extracted. These bashers have trashed the company, the CEO, the USPTO, and even the good judge. I continue to invest in companies that respect the law. I'm proud to say I've been integral in disrupting the flow of our countries tight corn supply to infringers. I've encouraged countless farmers here in Nebraska and Iowa to keep their grains in storage on the farm and to sell their grains to companies that respect the law. I'm very involved in the industry, more than is made known here.

My "gloves are off" comment was not in reference to these blogs, rather my influence with respect to relationships with farmers and the repercussions that that entails.

Your definition of "bashing" is synonymous with the clerics' definition of blasphemy. It contains the same emotional zeal and obviates any attempt to look evenly at the issues facing this company. Therefore, this makes you a heretic of truth and cajoler of the innocent. In your world view, Galileo would have also been branded a "basher" of the Church as he refused to accept their central dogma that the earth was the center of the universe. Sorry, but your unbalanced view has created this assessment. Your tireless efforts to advance your dogma about the GERS' "Church" has failed miserably and you cannot blame the truth seekers for this fact.

Let's not forget, ICM told the infringers that under a proper interpretation of the patents claims, ICM's systems don't infringe. The judge interpreted them in GERS' favor and against what ICM led the infringers to believe. ICM has fired more than half of their work force since this lawsuit began. They're in way over their heads with the ability to indemnify the entire industry. This is likely the reason VLO has not continued the roll-out of the ICM POS to the rest of their plants. That and the fact it extracts 70% less oil in violation of GERS' patents. That's all that matters here.

Extraction Patent Ruling Favors GreenShift

A court ruling has been announced in favor of GreenShift on its ongoing patent battle against several ethanol producers and other entities for infringement of GreenShift’s corn oil extraction processes. Defendants in the litigation argued that GreenShift’s patents are limited to the recovery of at least 95% of the oil present in the concentrated thin stillage feed stream and that there are no infringement occurring because they are recovering less than 95% of the oil. A court ruling has issued a Supplemental Claim Construction Order clarifying the patents do not require recovery of any particular percentage of oil present in the stream.

SkunK,

Thank you for your tireless efforts to get the truth out there. Don't feel bad about being "obviously wrong about the ability of those who have used a multi-patented technology to avoid paying royalties for a multi-year period." I have been of the exact mind set as I average down time and again (and will do again). But eventually they will hit the end of their rope. Every lawsuit proceeds slowly but they ALL come to a conclusion. And the court DOES take into account the fact that the "evil-doer" has USED the legal system to their financial advantage. I still believe that GreenShift will be victorious. And that ICM and David VanderFiend will be held accountable - in a measure that is directly proportional to their willingness to use the court system to their financial advantage.

Keep up the great work. Never never never give up.

As the organ music plays and the pleas of the Hallelujah Chorus reach to the heavens we need to remember that good doesn't always triumph over evil, that the courts are driven to serve process not justice, and G'd seldom intervenes in any human endeavor, even to right an egregious wrong. Thus the disciples need to turn to mankind's harp and seek the truth through the prism of that massive frailty.

We now say "Hallelujah" for we have seen the real light of man's endeavors and not those brought by angels' wings.
